Who I Am
I attended my first birth while still in college. I was an 18-year-old theater major at the University of Utah and witnessed a truly life-affirming transformation. I received a gift that day from my friend who invited me to her birth, the gift that is the work of labor and physiological birth, and I fell permanently under its spell.
Originally from the heartland of Wisconsin, I now call Brooklyn my home, where I live with my partner Spike and our kitkat Ethel. In my life as a creative a performer and singer (MA in vocal performance at NYU, 2001) I have lived on both coasts, supporting my creative career by working as a bespoke transition specialist: I organize all aspects of peoples lives and transitioned myself to working with birthing mothers and their partners, informed by my own experience with reproduction and fertility issues. Now, combining my organizational skills with a deep sense of compassion and love I support families as they venture into the life-affirming moment of birth, and the birthing year.
